Today we started our unit on Adjectives! I wanted them to truly experience the popcorn, so I brought in already popped popcorn since I didn't have a popcorn machine! To begin the lesson, I read them the book "The Popcorn Book" by Tommie De Paola. Super cute book that gives lots of facts on popcorn.
After reading thebook, I explained what exactly an adjective was. We learned that an Adjective is a word that describes a noun. Then we talked about everything we knew about popcorn: the taste, the smell, the sound it made popping, etc. As a class we completed a popcorn bucket visual using all of the adjectives they came up with. After compiling a class list, we did a *super* cute activity! The students came up with even MORE adjectives to describe popcorn!! They wrote their adjectives on smaller pieces of popcorn, and made their own Popcorn Adjective Bucket!! Check out how cute:
What a fun way to learn :)
